DOLSKÝ MLÝN

DOLSKÝ MLÝN

Dolský Mill – A Magical Place Famous from Czech Fairy Tale Films

Dolský Mill is one of the most picturesque places in the Bohemian Switzerland National Park. The romantic ruins of this former water mill are located at the confluence of the Kamenice River and the Jetřichovická Bělá Stream, surrounded by deep forests and impressive sandstone cliffs. Thanks to its unique atmosphere, it has become a favourite destination for both hikers and filmmakers.

Dolský Mill gained nationwide fame as one of the filming locations for the legendary Czech fairy tale The Proud Princess (Pyšná princezna). Since then, the site has appeared in several other films and television productions. Although only parts of the original walls and foundations remain today, the magical atmosphere of the mill has been beautifully preserved.

Close to the mill stands the Royal Spruce, a magnificent protected tree that has witnessed centuries of the area's history. The surrounding landscape changes dramatically throughout the year, giving Dolský Mill a different charm in every season—from the fresh greenery of spring and lush summer forests to the colourful autumn scenery and the peaceful beauty of winter.

How to Get to Dolský Mill

From Jetřichovice:
The most popular route follows the yellow hiking trail. The approximately 2.5-kilometre (1.6-mile) walk begins in the village of Jetřichovice, passes the Old Mill, and continues through the forest to the Royal Spruce and finally to Dolský Mill. The trail is relatively easy and suitable for families with older children.

From Vysoká Lípa:
Another option is the blue hiking trail from the village of Vysoká Lípa. This scenic route is approximately 2 kilometres (1.2 miles) long and follows the picturesque valley of the Kamenice River directly to the mill ruins.

Suggested Day Trip

A visit to Dolský Mill can be combined with a longer hiking circuit through the Kamenice Viewpoint, Kamenická Stráň, and Růžovský Hill. Along the way, you will discover traditional timber-framed houses, spectacular views of the Bohemian Switzerland landscape, and one of the region's most distinctive peaks—Růžovský Hill, often nicknamed the "Mount Fuji of Děčín." The complete circular route is approximately 12 kilometres (7.5 miles) long.

Where to Eat

Several restaurants and guesthouses in Jetřichovice offer refreshments, including the restaurant at Penzion Dřevák and the restaurant near the Old Mill, located directly along the hiking trail. During your walk, you can also refill your water bottle at Hubert's Spring. If you continue towards Srbská Kamenice, the restaurant at Penzion Pod Kaštany is another excellent place to stop.

Dolský Mill is a place where history, film heritage, and the extraordinary beauty of Bohemian Switzerland come together in perfect harmony. Its romantic atmosphere makes it one of the most enchanting and memorable destinations in the entire region.
