MARIINA VYHLÍDKA

Jetřichovice Viewpoints – The Most Beautiful Panoramas of Bohemian Switzerland

Maria's Viewpoint, Vilemínina Wall, and Rudolf's Stone are the three most famous viewpoints in the Jetřichovice area. Rising high above the surrounding landscape, these sandstone peaks offer some of the most spectacular views in the entire Bohemian Switzerland National Park. Each viewpoint has its own unique character and provides a different perspective of the region's romantic scenery, with its sandstone towers, deep forests, and rocky valleys.

The best known is Maria's Viewpoint (Mariina vyhlídka), crowned by a historic wooden gazebo. It offers not only a pleasant place to rest but also shelter from the sun or unexpected rain. From here, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the vast forests, sandstone rock formations, and the rolling hills of Bohemian Switzerland.

Another highlight is Vilemínina Wall (Vilemínina stěna), which offers a magnificent view of the distinctive cone-shaped Růžovský Hill, often referred to as the "Mount Fuji of Děčín." This viewpoint is particularly popular with photographers, especially at sunrise and sunset.

The most challenging climb leads to Rudolf's Stone (Rudolfův kámen). The route passes through a narrow rock passage and continues up carved stone steps and iron ladders to the summit, where visitors are rewarded with an impressive 360-degree panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. A small shelter at the top provides a welcome place to rest.

How to Reach the Viewpoints

The easiest route begins in the village of Jetřichovice at the visitor information centre. From there, follow the red hiking trail, which is also part of the Jetřichovice Walls Nature Trail. It leads to Maria's Viewpoint, Vilemínina Wall, and Rudolf's Stone before returning to the village along the same route.

More experienced hikers can continue from Rudolf's Stone to the Pohovka crossroads and then follow the green hiking trail back to Jetřichovice. This alternative route offers even more beautiful views of the Bohemian Switzerland landscape.

Suggested Day Trip

The viewpoints can be combined into an attractive circular hike passing Havraní Rock, Maria's Viewpoint, Vilemínina Wall, Rudolf's Stone, the Pohovka crossroads, Česká Road, and Vysoká Lípa. The route is approximately 12 kilometres (7.5 miles) long and is considered one of the finest hikes in the region. Due to the rugged terrain, it is best suited to experienced hikers and is not suitable for strollers.

After returning to Jetřichovice, visitors can relax during the summer months at the local outdoor swimming pool or enjoy a meal and refreshments at one of the village's welcoming restaurants or cafés.

Where to Eat

Jetřichovice offers several excellent places to enjoy refreshments. Popular choices include the outdoor refreshment stand Pod Mariinou skálou, the garden restaurant at Penzion Dřevák, and Penzion Švýcarský dvůr. Additional restaurants and cafés can also be found in the nearby village of Vysoká Lípa.

The Jetřichovice Viewpoints are among the greatest natural treasures of Bohemian Switzerland. Their combination of dramatic sandstone cliffs, unforgettable panoramic views, and picturesque hiking trails makes them an essential destination for anyone visiting this remarkable region.
